A Certificate of Approval (COA) is required for any gas fitting, gas appliance, or gas equipment intended to be assembled, manufactured, imported, sold, or used in Sarawak. All products must be tested and certified by the Director of Gas, an authorised agent, or an accredited person to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

The application can be submitted through the online via Sarawak Government or Service Sarawak Portal.

Any assembler, manufacturer, importer, authorised agent, or product owner seeking approval for gas fittings, gas appliances, or gas equipment.
  • Ensure all supporting documents are complete and up to date before submitting the application.
  • Make sure business licences and company registration documents are valid.
  • Confirm that test reports or certificates (SIRIM, ISO, API) are authentic and issued by recognised bodies.
 

Payment / Fees:
  • Gas Fitting: RM100 per model.
  • Gas Appliance: RM110 per model.
  • Gas Equipment: RM200 per model.

 
The application is required to submit the supporting documents below:
  1. Schematic drawings or photos of the gas fitting, gas appliance or gas equipment.
  2. Technical specifications (copy of catalogues) of the gas fitting, gas appliance or gas equipment.
  3. A copy of a valid test report produced by:
  • SIRIM Berhad; or
  • Laboratories which are members of the International Laboratory Accreditation Corporation (ILAC); or
  • A testing body recognized by the Ministry.
