Application for Certificate of Competency for Gas

Before applying for a Certificate of Practice, the applicant must first hold a Certificate of Competency issued by the Ministry of Utility and Telecommunication Sarawak (MUT).
 
There are five (5) types of competencies that can be applied for:
 
  • Certificate of Competency as Gas Engineer
  • Certificate of Competency as Gas Engineer Supervisor
  • Certificate of Competency as Gas Fitter Class I
  • Certificate of Competency as Gas Fitter Class II
  • Certificate of Competency as Gas Fitter Class III
 

The application can be submitted through the online via Sarawak Government or Service Sarawak Portal
Applicants who have attended the Gas Competency Course at institutes recognized by the Ministry, or competent persons wishing to upgrade their competency class.

Note: Competent persons wishing to upgrade must have previously registered with the Ministry.

 
  • An application can only be submitted if the applicant holds a competency course certificate from any accredited institution.
  • The Certificate of Competency is valid for a one-time issuance and does not require renewal.
  • The application is subject to approval by the Board of Examiners (BOE)
 

Issuance fee:
  • Certificate of Competency as a Gas Engineer: RM 150.00
  • Certificate of Competency as a Gas Engineering Supervisor: RM 100.00
  • Certificate of Competency as a Gas Fitter: RM 50.00
 

 

The application is required to submit the supporting documents below:
  1. Certificates of participation from courses or training institutes recognized by MUT.
  2. Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) certificate.
  3. Passport-sized photograph.
  4. Identity Card (MyKad).
  5. Professional certificate from the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) for Gas Engineer applications.
  6. A list of installations in which the applicant has been involved, including design, supervision, maintenance, repair, testing, or operation.
  7. Detailed work experience certified by a supervisor or competent person holding a higher competency class.
  8. Supporting documents related to work experience.
