Application for Distribution of Gas Licence

Under section 7 of the Distribution of Gas Ordinance, 2016 (DGO 2016) states that no person shall distribute gas (Natural Gas, Liquefied Natural Gas and Liquefied Petroleum Gas) in Sarawak or carry out the following activities without a license issued under this Ordinance; -

(a) import of any gas for regasification, processing, treatment, separation,
     utilization or distribution in Sarawak;

(b) regasification of gas;

(c) treatment, separation or processing of gas;

(d) transportation of gas;

(e) building, managing and maintaining gas pipeline or other apparatus or
     equipment or mechanism for the distribution of gas;

(f)  supply of gas; and

(g) retail of gas.


The application can be submitted through the online via Sarawak Government or Service Sarawak Portal.
  1. Companies engaged in bringing, or causing gas to be brought, into Sarawak
  2. Owners of regasification facilities
  3. Companies that carry out treatment, separation, or processing of gas at their terminal facilities
  4. Owners of distribution or transmission pipelines
  5. Owners of gas piping systems (e.g., hotels, laundries, restaurants, shopping complexes, F&B outlets, etc.)
  6. Companies that distribute gas in large quantities via cylinders, pipelines, or other facilities
  7. Companies that sell or supply gas directly to consumers via cylinders or pipelines

 
Ensure that all submitted documents are complete, valid, and up to date.
The applicant is required to provide the following supporting documents:
 
  1. Business registration or incorporation documents
  2. Business/trade licence
  3. Company profile
  4. Annual report for gas distribution activities
  5. Appointment or supporting letter from the supplier
  6. Any other information as may be required by the Director of Gas Distribution
 
Note: Supporting documents may vary depending on the type of licence applied for.
  1. Online banking through the Sarawak Government or Service Sarawak Portal.
  2. Payment via SarawakPay.
  3. Over-the-counter payment at any Service Sarawak office across Sarawak.
