The Rural Electricity Supply Project (BELB) is a Government initiative in an effort to supply electricity to rural villages and longhouses. This is in line with the Government's objective to achieve full coverage of rural electricity supply by 2025.
Applicants can visit Ministry of Utility and Telecommunication Sarawak website or visit the nearest district office or resident office to apply for electricity supply.
Applicant criteria for the Rural Electricity Supply Project (BELB):
- The application consists of private houses, longhouses, and community halls.
- Supplied through a single phase under the domestic user category to a house that has a kitchen, toilet, and a room suitable for living.
- Business shops, farmhouses, stores, workshops and houses certified unsafe by Sarawak Energy or MUT are NOT eligible in this criteria.
Documents attachment required for this form:
1. A copy of representative MyKad (both side)
2. A copy of applicants MyKad
3. A copy of Land Title
4. Letter of consent/Approval or Permission letter from landowner
5. Detailed sketch of the house location plan/coordinates/Google maps
6. Photo of the applicant's house (Compulsory)
7. Supporting document from YB
8. Latest income statement/document
For meter installation, BELB project applicants need to pay RM10 revenue stamp and RM80 collateral money (Collateral Deposit)
Houses ineligible for BELB:
1. Farmhouses/store
2. Commercial use/ Homestay
3. Incomplete house
4. Houses that are unsafe to live in.
