Under section 7 of the Distribution of Gas Ordinance, 2016 (DGO 2016) states that no person shall distribute gas (Liquefied Natural Gas, Natural Gas and Liquefied Petroleum Gas) in Sarawak or carry out the following activities without a licence issued under this Ordinance;-
- import of any gas for regasification, processing, treatment, separation, utilization or distribution in Sarawak;
- regasification of gas;
- treatment, separation or processing of gas;
- transportation of gas;
- building, managing and maintaining gas pipeline or other apparatus or equipment or mechanism for the distribution of gas;
- supply of gas; and
- retail of gas.
The application is required to submit the supporting documents below:
- Certified true copy of Trade License;
- Certified true copy of Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) License
- You can apply through online via e-Utilities System,
- Visit any Service Sarawak Centre
- Company who carry out activity of bringing or causing to be brought gas into Sarawak.
- Owner of regasification facilities
- Company who do the treatment, separation or processing of gas in their terminal facilities.
- Owner of the distribution or transmission pipeline.
- Owner of gas piping system (Hotel, Laundry, Restaurants, Shopping Complex, F&B outlet & etc.)
- Company who distribute gas through pipelines or cylinder.
- Company who sell gas through pipelines or cylinder.
The licence fee is vary subject to the category of licence applied. Refer to the Ministry of Utilities Sarawak website for more information. For payment over counter using bank draft or Postal Order, it must made payable to “KERAJAAN NEGERI SARAWAK”.
