This service is for the application to be recognized as a native of Sarawak. A minor may apply through one of his/her parents/guardians.
The recognization of Sarawak native is governed by Schedule to Section 3 of the Interpretation (Amendment) Ordinance, 2022 and the approving authority is by the State Secretary through Sarawak Native Recognition Committee (NRC).
The conditions for a person to be recognized as a native of Sarawak are as follows:
However, for a child adopted by a person of a race indigenous to Sarawak or a non-native who married to a person indigenous to Sarawak will not be recognized as a native of Sarawak but may apply to be deemed a native of Sarawak before the Native Court of Sarawak and be subjected to the current procedures and processes of the Native Court Rules, 1993 (Part IIIA).
- He/She is a Malaysian citizen;
- He/She is a natural born child of a race indigenous to Sarawak; and
- One of his/her parents is a person of a race indigenous to Sarawak.
However, for a child adopted by a person of a race indigenous to Sarawak or a non-native who married to a person indigenous to Sarawak will not be recognized as a native of Sarawak but may apply to be deemed a native of Sarawak before the Native Court of Sarawak and be subjected to the current procedures and processes of the Native Court Rules, 1993 (Part IIIA).
If the application is made by one of his parents/guardians for a minor, the application must be signed on behalf of the minor by the parent/guardian
Application must be completed with the following supporting documents:
1. Applicant:
- NRIC
- Birth Certificate
- Passport Size Photo
2 Natural father:
- NRIC/ Passport
- Birth Certificate (If Sarawak natives, the certificate must be stated with race indicator)
- Extract of Death Certificate (if applicable)
3. Natural mother:
- NRIC/ Passport
- Birth Certificate (If Sarawak natives, the certificate must be stated with race indicator)
- Extract of Death Certificate (if applicable)
Submit the application online.
RM 100.00 per application and it is non-refundable.
